----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stalingrad was a metallic hardcore band from Bradford England, they existed between 1994 and 2000 and I booked them several times in Newcastle and Glasgow and played on a lot of bills with them across the UK and Europe.

They were influenced by Amebix, Deviated Instinct, Integrity, Sacrilege, Grey Wolves, Con-Dom, Head of David, Splintered, and the new wave of metallized bands from Bremen and West Flanders. In the 2020's this does not read like a weird mix of bands, but in the mid 90s this was an astonishingly strange set of influences.

Go on youtube and listen to their 1996 s/t 7", it sounds like it could have been released this year.

Stalingrad released two private demos (I had one and had no idea it was private until this year) of more surrealist noise/ cut up sounds than their fearsome live assault (seriously, ask any British person over 40 that was in the hardcore scene about this band, 100% of them will tell you Stalingrad was the most terrifying band they've ever seen live).

Earlier this year Industrial Coast rereleased both demos and I jumped at the chance to rework some of the tracks when it came up in conversation.

The first five tracks are from the unreleased demos, A Hanged Man Will Repent is a track from the aforementioned s/t 7" and Dylan Walker (Full of Hell, Sore Dream, Collapsed Skull) did the vocals on this version.

The cassette version was released by Industrial Coast.

Thanks and love to Rich, Russ, Justin, and Bri.

RIP to Mik Allison.
